Drawing layer visibility for DWG overlays, selection of template files, snap settings, cloud-based asset settings, publishing options, annotation (asset tag and descriptor) settings, and Reposition command access are all managed using the Factory Options dialog box. You have the option of displaying a layer dialog box listing all of the defined layers in a DWG overlay. Check boxes enable layer visibility to be toggled on or off as required. You can also choose to show a preview of the overlay drawing in the layer dialog box.
The template settings enable you to specify the template file to be used when creating a new factory layout. You can also specify the template file to be used when modeling a part or an assembly, when creating new factory assets. Additionally, you can specify the AutoCAD template file to be used for automatic drawing creation by the Sync AutoCAD and Publish/Update DWG commands.
The Factory Options dialog box also lets you specify how components snap to the floor and the grid and to each other. You can also specify the folder where downloaded cloud-based assets are to be stored, enable/disable the ability to create a 2D drawing when publishing factory assets, and control whether AutoCAD DWG solids are imported as assemblies or multi-body parts. The text font, height, and placement settings for asset tags and descriptors are also controlled using this dialog box. The option to have the Reposition command launch automatically after placing an asset, or inserting a model, into a factory layout is also controlled by factory options.
Finally, the factory options settings are global so that all new documents use the settings.
