Working With the Factory Annotations Tab
Asset tags and descriptors for assets are defined and published in Inventor Factory. The text font, height, and placement options for asset tags and descriptors are also specified in Inventor Factory and appear with those settings in the AutoCAD Factory layout after using the Sync AutoCAD command. Once in AutoCAD, the annotations are represented as block attributes in a text style called Factory_Annotation. Two AutoCAD layers are also automatically created for the annotation; Factory_AssetTag and Factory_Descriptor, respectively.
You can make the same text font, height, and placement settings to asset tags and descriptors in AutoCAD Factory on the Factory Annotations tab of the Options dialog box. However, the changes you make affect only assets that are subsequently placed (dragged and dropped) from the Asset Browser into the AutoCAD layout. Your changes do not affect any of the asset tags and descriptors that appear as a result of syncing from Inventor.
If you wish to make changes to the asset tags and descriptors from synced assets, use the AutoCAD STYLE command to change the annotation font. To change the attribute text height, use the EATTEDIT command.
Note: Once Inventor is restarted, the annotations settings on the AutoCAD Factory Annotations tab are automatically synced with the annotations settings on the Annotations tab of the Factory Options dialog box in Inventor Factory.
To access the Factory Annotations options:
- At the bottom of the Application menu
, click Options.
- In the Options dialog box, navigate to the Factory Annotations tab.
- On the Factory Annotations tab, select the desired font from the Font drop-down list. The default font is romans.shx.
- Set the text height in the Height text box. The default text height is .125 inches (3mm). Be sure to set the text height to an appropriate size to reflect the drawing/plot scale of the 2D layout.
- Next, determine the placement settings for the annotations. For the Descriptor annotation placement, choose Below (the default) or Center. The Below setting places the descriptor annotation away from the asset. Center places the annotation in the center of the asset. The graphic image in the dialog box reflects your Descriptor placement changes.
- For the Asset Tag annotation placement, choose Below or Center (the default). As with Descriptor placement, the Below setting places the asset tag annotation away from the asset or inserted model. Center places the annotation in the center of the asset or inserted model. The graphic image in the dialog box reflects your Asset Tag placement changes.
