Create Asset Variants

User assets published with the Publish 2D Asset option appear in the AutoCAD Factory Asset Browser ready for use in 2D factory floor layouts. However, these 2D assets are difficult to modify if variations are required. A very powerful solution is to create and publish the asset with the necessary dimensional variations that can easily be selected and placed on the AutoCAD factory floor.

Such asset variants are created using the Asset Variants command on the Asset Builder tab. You can define two or more asset variants with each having different Model parameters. These parameters are defined using the Inventor Parameters command. When you place the asset, whether in AutoCAD Factory or Inventor Factory, you select which variant you wish to use from a pop-up context menu.

Asset variants are distinguished from other assets in the Assets Browser with this iconthat appears at the upper left of the asset. The numeral in the icon represents the number of variants defined for that asset.
