Surveying - Step by Step

1. Edit the surveying rules (ESTRULES.cfg file) to ensure conversions are present.
2. Select Item Folders.
3. Right Click on the main folder that Surveying rules are to use and click Properties for each.
4. Select Estimating as the folder type. The folder and its sub folders will be used to convert the drawing and should contain all the CID references made from within the Surveying rules file.

It is recommended that a new Folder is created with shortcuts to the Items required to be used for surveying.

RECOMMENDED METHOD

1. Create the Directory " Surveying" and ensure the folder type is selected as Estimating (step explained above and shown below).

   

2. Right Click on the Item file for each item required from the main structure and select Copy.
3. Navigate to the new Folder " Surveying" and click Paste shortcut for each of the copied item files.

   

4. All items in this folder should be linked in the ESTRULES.cfg file as these shorcuts will be used when converting from the Manufacturing job.
5. Open the Original ESJ tender quotation.
6. Click the Survey tool from the File menu.

   

7. Navigate tot he Manufacturing MAJ drawing file and select Open.

   

8. The Survey screen will now open into three columns. These detail the original Estimate job contents, a central surveyed conversion and the Manufacturing drawing contents.

   

9. Review the data to ensure all converted. Note: Failed conversions will be highlighted in RED which will need user attention in the ESTRULES.cfg file.
10. Click Save once conversion is 100% successful and no reported failures are present. This saves the Surveyed job and its rates into a new ESJ file automatically prefixed with a svy_ of the existing filename.
