Barcode Readers

Trackit supports all types of Barcode readers. The reader would need to have simple text reading ability for use with the Trackit software.

USB type readers can be installed at each station. The Reader would be wired to the stations via USB cable and would be networked to the master database that is shared across stations. Therefore real time updating of statuses can occur as shown in the green section below.

There potentially is a requirement for Wireless Barcode Readers shown in Pink as some would need a Bluetooth adapter for greater distances from where the Trackit software is installed to. (10 to 30 metres for example). The Wireless solution saves the SIF files having to be manually updated once the status changes have been completed.

The stations for Shipping and Delivery in the example above could be running the Trackit software on a Laptop or PDA system locally with a copy of the Database from the server/network share.

The Trackit software would generate the SIF file for status changes that are scanned and later be updated when a connection to the server has been established via a Wi-Fi connection or network cable. The user in this scenario places the SIF files into the pending folder for automatic updating.

Another solution for placing the files in the Pending folder would be to create a synchronisation so that the user connects to the server, presses the sync icon on their desktop further automating the process for stations such as Delivery and Installation.
