Specify a high or low level of ambient occlusion. When ambient occlusion is on, surrounding features throw soft shadows on neighboring features. When off, surfaces reflect only direct sunlight, without taking into account surrounding features.
- Set level of Ambient Occlusion, high or low, in
Application Options window, 3D Graphics controls. Level setting reflects the capability of your graphics card. Usually, you set the level once, selecting the level that works best with your graphics card. - High uses Ambient Occlusion Volumes (AOV). It produces better quality with fewer artifacts, but uses significantly more resources to render.
- Low uses Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), which has less impact on performance and is supported by a broader range of graphics hardware.
- Turn Ambient Occlusion On or Off from the
Visual Effects panel. - Use ambient occlusion to showcase your model (on) or turn it off to speed rendering (off).
