Navigation bar

The navigation bar floats over and along one of the sides of the window for the current model. It contains areas for both unified and product-specific navigation tools. You click the navigation tools to start them, or select from a list that displays when you click the smaller portion of a split button.

Unified navigation commands

Commands at the ends of the navigation bar (such as Autodesk ® ViewCube ® and SteeringWheels) are used across many Autodesk products.

ViewCube
Indicates the current orientation of a model and reorients the current view of a model.
SteeringWheels
Collection of wheels for rapid switching between specialized navigation tools.

Product-specific navigation commands

Commands in the center of the navigation bar are unique to a product.

Pan
Moves the view parallel to the screen.
Zoom tools
Set of navigation tools for increasing or decreasing the magnification of the current view of a model.
Orbit tools
Set of navigation tools for rotating the current view of a model.
Look At

You can add the following product-specific navigation tools to the navigation bar using the Customize menu.

Previous View
Returns the graphics display to the previous view orientation and zoom scale.
Next View
Reverts to the next view after Previous View is used.
Projection
Displays parts and assemblies in orthographic or perspective projections.
Visual Styles
Displays the list of available visual styles that can be applied to models.

Position and orientation of navigation bar

The navigation bar displays by default in the upper right in the graphics window. Using the Customize menu, you can:
  • Adjust the position and orientation of the navigation bar.
  • Link it to the ViewCube, which positions it above or below the ViewCube in a vertical orientation.
  • Dock it when the ViewCube is not displayed.
  • Freely position it along an edge of the current window.

When not linked or docked, you can align the navigation bar along one of the edges of the window of the current model. If the side of the window is not long enough to show the entire navigation bar, truncates to fit. When truncated, a More Controls button displays and replaces the Customize button. When you click the More Controls button, a menu displays with the navigation tools that are not currently displayed.

Customization of navigation bar

Using the Customize menu, you can control which navigation commands are displayed on the navigation bar. You cannot change the position of the navigation commands on the navigation bar.
