Work with parameters in iFeatures

Define parameters to clarify usage of iFeatures.

Use the Parameters command to:

• Give descriptive names to parameters before you create an iFeature. Names are automatically included in the iFeature Size Parameters table.

  For example, rename a dimension with the default name of "d1" to "plate_length" or another descriptive name.

• Add a prompt that further describes the parameter and its use. The prompt is automatically included in the Size Parameters table.
• Specify an iFeature parameter in a table column to use as an identifier in the browser name.
• Specify the Key 1 parameter value to use as an identifier in the browser name.

Add or remove parameters from iFeature

1. In the Extract iFeature dialog box, click to expand a feature. Then right-click to add or remove all of its parameters from the Size Parameters table.
2. Right-click individual parameters to add or remove them from the Size Parameters table.

Modify values in Size Parameters table

1. Click the row that contains values you want to change.
2. In Name, click to enter a descriptive name for the parameter.
3. In Value, click to override the default parameter (within conditions specified in Limit).
4. In Limit, click, and then click the arrow to view conditions for Value. Select one:
   • None (no restrictions)
   • List (restrict entries to preselected values)
   • Range (set minimum, maximum, and default values)
5. In Prompt, click to enter a descriptive instruction that displays in the dialog box when the iFeature is placed.

Verify name of parameter

1. In the browser, select the feature.
2. Right-click, and click Show Dimensions.
3. Double-click the dimension.

   The value displays in the edit box, and the name of the parameter displays in the title bar. Both values are included when you create iFeatures from the feature.
