Create sheet metal flange around edge loop

Create a flange around a loop that you define.

  1. On the ribbon, click Sheet Metal tab Create panel Flange .
  2. The Edge Select Mode is active. Instead of selecting an edge, click Loop Select Mode, and then select a loop. Use the corner option specified by the sheet metal style, or on the Corner tab, define a corner.

The flange previews around the selected loop.

  3. Set a Distance for the height of the flange, or select To, and select geometry that defines the flange height.

To change the side of the sheet metal face the flange is created on, click Flip Direction.

  4. Specify an Angle for the flange (if other than the default of 90 degrees).
  5. Use the default Bend Radius, or enter a value.
  6. Specify the datum from which to measure the height (if not the intersection of the two outer faces).
  7. If you do not want the outside face of the bend to align to the selected edge, specify the bend position relative to the selected edge.
  8. If necessary, modify any Unfold, Bend, or Corner settings that differ from the options defined by Sheet Metal Style. The options are on the corresponding dialog box tabs.
  9. If necessary, expand Distance, Angle, or Bend Radius to use Measure, Show Dimensions, or List Parameters to set the appropriate value.
  10. Click OK, or click Apply to add more flanges.
  11. Note: Selecting a complex loop and canceling the selection of individual edges can be faster than manually selecting all edges. First select the loop, and after the flange previews, click Edge, and then CTRL select the edges you want to cancel.
