Create sheet metal flange with specified width

Create a flange in sheet metal, and specify the width of the flange.

  1. On the ribbon, click Sheet Metal tab Create panel Flange .
  2. The Edge Select Mode is active. Select an edge. When creating a flange of a specific width, you select only a single edge.

The flange previews along the edge selected using default parameters.

  3. Set a Distance for the height of the flange, or select To, and select geometry to define the height.

To change the side of the sheet metal face the flange is created on, click Flip Direction.

  4. On the lower right of the dialog box, click More.
  5. On the Extents Type drop-down list, select Width.
  6. In Width, enter a value.

To center the flange along the selected edge, continue. Otherwise click Offset, and click a start point on the selected edge from which to offset the flange. Enter a value for the amount of offset, and if necessary, flip offset direction.

  7. On the upper area of the dialog box, specify an Angle for the flange (if other than the default of 90 degrees).
  8. Use the default Bend Radius, or enter a value.
  9. If not the intersection of the two outer faces, specify the datum from which to measure the height.
  10. If you do not want the outside face of the bend to align to the selected edge, specify the bend position relative to the selected edge.
  11. If necessary, modify any Unfold, Bend, or Corner settings that differ from the options defined by Sheet Metal Style. The options are on the corresponding dialog box tabs.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Note: If necessary, expand Distance, Angle, or Bend Radius to use Measure, Show Dimensions, or List Parameters to set the appropriate value.
