Split face of solid or surface body

Split a part face to create multiple bodies, to trim and remove one side, or to create two solid bodies.

  1. Create a part and position a work plane, or sketch a 2D parting line on a part face or work plane. Or, you can use a surface body as the split tool.
  2. Click 3D Model tab Modify panel Split to split a part into multiple bodies, or to trim and remove one side. You can split one or more faces, then apply draft on selected faces. You can also split one or more faces on a surface body.
  3. In the feature dialog box, click Split Face .
    • Split Face Splits individual faces
    • Trim Solid Splits and removes a section of the part.
    • Split Solid Creates multiple solid bodies.
  4. Select a 2D sketch, 3D sketch, work plane, or surface to be used as the Split Tool.
    Note: 3d sketches must lie on the faces to be split, and must fully intersect the faces to be split.
  5. Click All, and select the part or surface body to split all its faces.

    Click Select, and select one or more faces of the part or surface body to split.

  6. Click OK.

After part faces are split, you can use Face Draft to apply draft.
