What is the difference between a stand-alone license and a network license?

A stand-alone license supports one or more Autodesk products for an individual user. Similarly, a multi-seat stand-alone license supports a specific number of users. While the software can be installed on additional computers in your facility, the license specifies a maximum number of concurrent users.

A network license supports a specific maximum number of concurrent users on computers connected to a network. A software utility known as the Network License Manager (NLM) issues licenses to computers, up to the number of licenses purchased. At this point, no more computers can run the Autodesk product until a license is returned to the NLM.
