Insert 2D AutoCAD Block

Insert a 2D AutoCAD block as an annotation into Inventor Publisher. The AutoCAD block brings in all the layer properties on the import of the block.

Note: Dynamic AutoCAD blocks are not allowed and hence filtered in the select block dialog.

2D Block status

Inventor Publisher checks the status for the 2D block which is already inserted into a document when the 2D DWG file including the block is selected again to insert other blocks. The block status is indicated in the Import Status column of the Select DWG Block dialog box.

2D Block Options

Selecting a 2D block brings up an annotation tab that has various options to alter the block.

• Keep on Top - The annotation is always in the foreground even on component rotation.
• Fill and Outline - Applies color fill and outline color and width of the outer shape applied to the block.
• Shape - Uses different shapes as a border for the inserted block.
• Style - Provides a list of preset styles for blocks.
• Scale - Scales the inserted block to fit the shape boundary.
• Edit Layer - Changes visibility, color, line type, and line weight of the layers.

Browser Representation

Like every other annotation each inserted AutoCAD block is represented in the browser with a unique entry under AnnotationsDWG Blocks. Expand each block to see all the layers present in the block. Select the layer icon to change layer color , line type, and line weight.
