Use this dialog box to create a symbol from an existing object.
- Name
- Specify the name of the symbol you are creating.
Base Point
- Specify on Screen
- Allows you to pick the symbol base point after you click the OK button.
- Pick Base Point
- Use this option to temporarily leave the Symbol Definition dialog box to set the symbol base point in the drawing. Once a base point is selected, you are returned to the dialog box. Base point coordinates for the point you picked are entered into the X and Y fields.
If you want to re-define the base point, click to re-select the base point. You can also re-enter the X and Y coordinates if you want.
Objects
- Specify on Screen
- Allows you to select the objects that will make up the symbol after you click the OK button.
Note: When Specify on Screen is enabled for Base Point and Object selection, you are prompted to pick the base point first, then select the objects that make up the symbol.
- Pick Objects
- Similar in operation to Pick Base Point, you leave the Symbol Definition dialog box to select the objects in the drawing that will comprise the symbol. When done selecting objects, press Enter to return to the Symbol Definition dialog box. The Pick Objects section shows how many objects were selected. If necessary, click to re-select objects.
