Create Mash-Ups With External Map Providers

In this exercise, you add base map data to your own Infrastructure Map Server data from public mapping services from Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, Bing Maps, and OSM (OpenStreetMap) - also referred to as a mash-up. This is done in the Flexible Web Layout (FWL) in Infrastructure Studio.

  Detailed steps
  1. Open an existing Flexible Web Layout.
  1. On the toolbar, click Edit to hide the Preview panel.
  2. In the section Add base Map from External Providers, select the layers from each vendor you want to include in your map.
  3. Click FileSave and save the Web layout in the Web Layout folder.

You must save the Web layout before you can test it in the browser.

  4. In the Web Layout Editor, click View In Browser... on the right edge of the editor.

Your Web browser starts and displays the map in the Flexible Layout viewer.

  5. Click External Providers at the top of the map to view a list of the base map layers you have added.
