In this exercise, you create a new layer referencing an existing data source, in this case, the parcels data that you loaded earlier. You will theme this layer in the next exercise.
Note: The following exercise uses the
standard layer style to configure styles in the Layer Editor. Also available is the
enhanced layer style, which supports compound symbols and composite styles. To change the layer style, click Tools menu

Options

Layer Editor tab. Under Layer Style, select Standard for this exercise. See the Studio User's Guide for instructions on using enhanced styles.

- Right-click the Layers folder in the Site Explorer and then click
.

- In the Layer Editor, for Data Resource Used In This Layer, click [...].
- Navigate to the folder Sheboygan Public\Data and then select the data source Parcels.
- Click Open.
Click Refresh to see the parcel polygons in the Preview panel.

and save the layer resource in the Layers folder with the name Parcels (area).
