Troubleshooting SHP FIles

Potential Locale Setting Discrepancies Between SHP Data and Map Server

If the locale setting of SHP data is not the same as the locale setting in Infrastructure Map Server, you may get garbled attribute data. To avoid this possibility, change the locale setting of Infrastructure Studio to correspond to the SHP data locale setting and select the "Convert to SDF feature source" option while loading the SHP data. This will produce an SDF file containing the correct attributes, which can then be read correctly by Map Server via the SDF provider, regardless of the locale setting in Map Server.

Duplicate Field Names in SHP data

The FDO SHP provider will not properly read SHP data if the associated DBF file contains duplicate fields. To avoid this possibility, rename or delete the duplicate fields.
