Sample scene with driven keys

Two sample files found in the Samples Visor are included to help you learn about driven keys. The sample files include a basic hand skeleton with a simple NURBS circle. One file is set up with driven key relationships established between a custom attribute on the NURBS circle and the rotation attributes of the finger joints, while the other file has the same objects but no driven keys, so you can practice creating them yourself.

To load the first sample file

  1. Select Window > General Editors > Samples Visor.
  2. In the Samples Visor, switch to the Feature Examples tab, then select the SetDrivenKey directory.
  3. Middle-drag SetDrivenKey_Start.mlt into the scene view.

The hand skeleton loads in the scene, along with a NURBS circle.

The following video shows the process of establishing driven key relationships between a custom attribute added to the NURBS circle (the driver), and the rotation attributes of the finger joints (driven), so that the fingers curl into a fist as you adjust the custom attribute on the NURBS circle from 0 to 1.

To play with the hand setup completed in this video, load the SetDrivenKey_End.mlt file.
