User Interface
To interact with the program, commands and options are located within the ribbon at the top of the User Interface.
Modeling
The flow simulation will only be as good as the model you create. This section describes the tools that are available to assist in modeling, provides detailed instructions on how to perform various procedures, and highlights pitfalls to avoid in order to ensure that your model can be filled.
Molding processes
Once you have meshed your model, you are ready to select the molding process. It is important that you select the molding process that represents the real-case scenario that you are simulating. Once you have selected the molding process, the supported analysis sequences are updated.
Analysis sequence
The analysis sequence is the predefined sequence of analyses that you want to run.
Materials and databases
There is a vast range of materials that can be used to produce a plastic part, each contributing different qualities to the final product. To achieve the most accurate analysis results, it is important that the material you select for the simulation is similar to the actual material you have chosen for the part.
Process settings
Process settings are all of the instructions needed beyond modeling, including the machine set-up and material properties, such as melt temperature.
Optimization
Optimization analyses are those designed to assist the user in producing the best possible part. Optimization analyses enable the user to change parameters in a virtual environment and see the effect on the quality of the part, before any money is spent on its production.
Results
Different results are generated for each analyses performed.
Troubleshooting guide
Molding problems fall into three main categories; modeling, machine settings, and materials. The effects of these choices is far-reaching, ranging from visual defects such as sink marks, so physical defects such as warpage and even financial implications resulting from excessive cycle times or waste from short shots.
Reference materials
These sources provide comprehensive information about refereed journals, books, articles, and theses related to plastic injection molding technologies.
Error and warning messages Solver messages contain warnings and errors that are output when a part is meshed or analyzed. An Explanation and a Resolution is provided here for each numbered solver message.
