Gate Location advice is obtained through the Results Adviser dialog.
The display can be investigated (mouse:right click), to obtain information on the relative suitability of the current cross-hairs location as an injection location.
The number between 0 and 1 gives a value for the relative suitability, and less than ideal areas will have associated warnings that are displayed in the warnings box of the dialog.
| Warning | Explanation |
|---|---|
| High geometric resistance detected | This result indicates that overpacking might occur if an injection location is located in that position. You can resolve this by:
 |
| Thin area detected | The part thickness in this area is less than half of the average part thickness. When injecting into a thin area, it is likely that the thin area will freeze first. If this happens, then pressure will not be applied to the thicker areas as they freeze-that is, the thicker parts of the model will be underpacked, causing uncontrolled shrinkage and hence warpage and/or possible sink marks. |
