The General tab of the Options dialog allows you to configure the system settings, the display colors used, modeling preferences, model import directory, the number of commonly used materials remembered and analysis option settings.
Dialog elements
- Measurement System
- Specifies whether the model is displayed in metric or US English units.
- Active units
- Specifies the units that are used to display the model.
- You can select either of the following units to display and work with your model:
- US English units-(Imperial) feet, inches.
- Metric units-Meters, millimeters.
- Show Help Tips
- When this checkbox is selected, Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Communicator displays pop-up tips to help you to perform certain actions.
- Introductory Help
- This group contains options that allow you to specify whether or not you want additional help displayed.
- Use Wizard at Start
- When this checkbox is selected, the start up wizard is activated the next time you start Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Communicator.
- Memory/Performance
- Select whether to Cache memory, recycle memory for maximum performance.
This option is not selected by default.
Select this option if you want the CPU to cache and recycle memory resources for use by this application. This can improve the performance of this application because the computer does not have to repeat memory resource allocation tasks for subsequent operations by this application.
Cached memory is not readily available to other applications that may be running concurrently on the computer, so the performance of other applications may be negatively affected when this option is selected.
Note: The performance effects are most noticeable on 32-bit systems, which have more limited memory resources.
