Manual edit of CFD registry key required for 3D channel mesh on Windows Server 2012 operating systems

If you are using a Windows 2012 server, when creating a 3D channel mesh for a conformal cooling analysis, the operation may fail to complete.

If this occurs,

  1. 1. Type "regedit" into the Windows run command, or the Windows command shell, to access the Registry Editor.
  2. 1. Navigate down through the HKEY_USERS directory to the following folder:
  3. HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Autodesk\Inventor Server x64 SDK\RegistryVersion19.0\ System\Preferences\File

  4. 2. Locate and select the entry:
  5. C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Simulation CFD 2015\SimCFD_Translators\Inventor Server\Bin\RegisterInventorServer.exe:ContentCenterDir

  6. 3. Click Edit > Modify to edit the Data value, and change the entry from
  7. Content Center Files\R2015 to

    c:\ Content Center Files\R2015

Reboot required to install .Net Framework 3.5 on a clean Windows 2012 server

When installing Insight 2015 onto a clean Windows 2012 server, you may see an error message that states that .Net Framework 3.5 could not be installed. If you see this error message, reboot the computer, and install again.
