Importing a model

A number of different model file formats can be imported. Unless the model has a *.sdy file format, however, only a single cavity can be imported. Multiple cavity models will need to be separated into single cavities before importing.

Additional file formats can be read if you have the Autodesk® Simulation Moldflow® Design Link add-in.

  1. Click (Home tab > Import panel > Import).
  2. Select the Files of type drop-down list. The list of file types directly supported is shown. Select All Models to show the list of all model file formats in your directory.
  3. Navigate to the folder in which your model is saved, select it and click Open.
  4. Select the analysis technology to be used from the drop-down list.
  5. If you selected a native CAD geometry, do one of the following:
    1. Click Direct Import using Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Design Link to import the model in its native format, or
    2. Check Process using Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Design Link to translate the model
Note: If you selected this last option, click Advanced, select the required alternate meshing parameters that Autodesk® Simulation Moldflow® Design Link offers and click OK.
The model is read in, and a new study is automatically created in the your project.
