Cooling Circuit Wizard-Channels

The Cooling Circuit Wizard allows you to quickly and easily create an initial cooling system design suitable for Cool analysis. This initial design can be enhanced using the modeling tools provided in the Geometry tab. To access this wizard, click (Geometry tab > Create panel > Cooling Circuit).

The Channels page of the Cooling Circuit Wizard is used to input specific information about the cooling channels in the cooling system design.

Dialog elements

Number of channels

Specifies the number of cooling channels to be created around the model.

To change the number of circuits, click inside the box and enter the required number.

Distance between channel centers

Specifies the distance from the center of one channel to the center of the next channel, in the unit of measure you have selected.

Note: Alterations to the distance between channel centers can be made after using the Wizard. To change this measurement, reopen the Wizard, navigate to the specified distance, and simply type over the values. Make sure that the option Delete existing circuits first is checked.

Distance to extend beyond part

Specifies the length to which the cooling channels will extend beyond the part.

Preview

By selecting the Preview button, you can see how the cooling channels are set prior to them appearing in the main display.

Note: This visual aid is more beneficial when changing, for example, the distance between the channels.

Delete all existing circuits first

Deletes all existing cooling circuits before you apply others.

Connect channels with hoses

Selecting this check box allows you to add cooling hoses external to the mold.

If you do not select this box, the cooling channels will be created internally to the mold.

The part dimensions are

This area allows you to enter the length, width and height of your part, in preparation for the cooling circuits you are about to create.

Note: Your part must be lying in the XY plane for the Wizard to work correctly.

Please select how you want the circuits aligned with your part

By selecting either X or Y, you will place your cooling circuit in the relevant plane, as indicated by its corresponding illustration.

Please specify the channel diameter to use

Specifies the diameter of the cooling channel.

To change this measurement, click the arrow in the drop-down list to reveal a predetermined selectable list of alternative dimensions, or type a new value.

How far above and below the part would you like the circuits to be created?

Specifies how far above and below the part the circuits will be created in the unit of measure you have selected.

To change this measurement, type the required value into the box provided.
