Running an analysis on a remote machine

When you launch an analysis by clicking Start Analysis in the Study Tasks pane, the analysis runs on the current machine. It is also possible run analyses on another machine on the network that has the same version of Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Insight installed by creating a job server entry in the Job Manager dialog.

Note: The procedure described here allows you to run analyses on solver-only platforms that do not provide a user interface from which to launch analyses.
  1. Click Job Manager (Home tab > Analysis panel > Job Manager). The Job Manager dialog appears.
  2. Click Add Job Server below the Job server pane. The Job Server Properties dialog appears.
  3. Enter either the IP address or the name of the machine you want to be a job server, then configure the other properties of the job server.
  4. Click OK to close the Job Server Properties dialog. There is now a new job server entry in the Job server pane, and the Job Manager on the current machine will attempt to contact the Job Manager on the other machine. If this is successful, the Priority Jobs and Batch Queue for the new job server are displayed.
  5. In the Studies pane, click on the study you want to run on the job server. The study is highlighted and the analyses that need to be run are displayed in the Job preview pane.
  6. If you want to run the analysis immediately on the new job server, click on the Priority Jobs entry for the job server and then click the Submit >> button between the Studies and Job server panes.
  7. If you want to add the analysis to the batch queue on the new job server, click on the Batch Queue entry for the job server and then click the Submit >> button between the Studies and Job server panes. To start processing the analyses in the batch queue, click Run/pause batch queue.
Note: The number of jobs that can be run simultaneously depends on the availability of licenses on your license server. Each reserved license allows three simultaneous jobs, however if the Synergy GUI is running this limit is reduced to two jobs for the first reserved license.
  8. You can now close the Job Manager dialog and continue working with other studies. To view the progress of the analysis running on the remote machine, either open the study and select the Logs checkbox, then select the Analysis Log tab, or open the Job Manager dialog to view the percentage progress of the analysis.
