Thermoplastics Material dialog-Optical Properties tab

The fields in this dialog describe the properties of the material resin and how it behaves.

The values of these fields are supplied by the manufacturer or measured by Autodesk Moldflow Plastics Labs. For materials in a Creating a personal database you can enter your own values.

The Optical properties tab of the Thermoplastics material dialog provides data for the stress-optical features of a transparent thermoplastic material. These properties are used in birefringence analyses.

Refractive index of unoriented material This field describes the proportional slowing of light transmitted through the material. A higher refractive index is usually associated with a denser material.
Stress-optical coefficients, elastic part These fields describe how the refractive index of a transparent material changes under stress.
Viscoelastic retardation spectrum at Tref The viscoelastic retardation spectrum at the reference temperature relates the compliance (inverse of stiffness) of a material with its retardation time.
Temperature shift model Use this option to select a model to use for the viscoelastic phase of the material.
Spectrum correction factor Use this option to select a spectrum correction factor that provides a better match between experimental birefringence results and predicted values.
