The following steps describe the procedure to set up a Thermoplastics Bi-injection Molding analysis.
Create or import a Midplane meshed part model.
- Click
(), and select the Thermoplastics Bi-injection Molding process.
- Click
(), and select the desired analysis sequence.
- Select two different materials, Material A and Material B, for the analysis.
- Click
(), and select a material from the Thermoplastics material database.
- Click
(), and select another material from the Thermoplastics material database.
- Ensure that two injection locations are set on the model. The injection locations can be set directly on the model at two separate nodes, or at the entrances to two separate feed systems, each of which includes one or more gates.
- Click
(), and set two injection locations on the model. Right-click and select Finish Set Injection Locations when you are done.
- Define a boundary condition to associate each material with a separate injection location. By default, Material A is assumed to be injected, unless Material B is specified at a particular injection location.
- Click
(). The Set Material to inject (A/B) dialog appears and the cursor changes to cross-hairs.
- Click New, select B in the Material to inject (A/B) drop-down list, type a Name for the Material B property set, and click OK.
- Click the cross-hairs on the injection location where material B is to be injected.
- Right-click the mouse and select Finish Set Co-injection Material.
- Specify the process settings for each injection unit.
- Click
(). The Process Settings Wizard - 1st Injection Settings dialog appears.
- Specify the material, processing, and machine parameters associated with Material A. The settings, including the Advanced options, are the same as for the conventional Thermoplastics Injection Molding process flow analysis using a single material.
- Click Next to continue. The Process Settings Wizard - 2nd Injection Settings dialog appears.
- Specify the material, processing, and machine parameters associated with Material B. These parameters are independent of the first injection flow analysis settings. If necessary, click Second injection unit options to specify advanced options associated with Material B.
- If necessary, click Next to continue, and specify process conditions for any remaining analyses in the specified analysis sequence.
- When you have specified all of the process settings, click Finish to exit the Process Settings Wizard.
- Click
() to start the analysis.
