Nodes By Dividing Curve tool

The Nodes By Dividing Curve tool allows you to create nodes when you are in the process of creating a new model or adding to an existing model. To access this tool, click Nodes By Dividing Curve (Geometry tab > Create panel > Nodes > Nodes By Dividing Curve).

The Nodes By Dividing Curve command is used to create the number of nodes you specify, on the curve you select, at equal intervals.

You have the option to create nodes at the ends of the curve. These nodes will be included in the total number of nodes you specify.

Dialog elements

Select a curve
Select the curve on which you would like to create new nodes at equal intervals.

Move your cursor to the model and rubber-band select, or click on an existing curve. Alternatively, type the curve identifier (e.g. C1) in the input box.

Number of nodes
Type the number of nodes you want to create at equal intervals on the curve you selected.
Note: A node is automatically created at each end of the curve, even if nodes already exist at the end points. Therefore, if you set Number of nodes to 4, you will create a node at each end of the curve, and two additional nodes at equal intervals between the ends.
Create nodes at ends of curve
Specifies whether new nodes will be created at the ends of a curve.

For example, if you select activate the check-box associated with Create nodes at ends of curve, and specify 4 as the Number of nodes, the curve will be "divided" into three equal sections. Four new nodes are created: one at each end and two at evenly spaced intervals along the curve.

Note: If you de-activate the check-box associated with Create nodes at ends of curve, and specify 4 as the Number of nodes, the curve will be "divided" into five equal sections. Four new nodes are created: one at each end and two at evenly spaced intervals along the curve.
