Create gate automatically

The runner system wizard can be used to create a gate automatically.

To create a gate automatically, you must first have an injection location identified.

  1. To set an injection location, double-click Set Injection Locations, Analysis toolbar Set Injection Locations in the Study Tasks pane. When the cursor is moved into the Model panel, it changes shape. This indicates that the injection selection location option is active. Click on your model where you would like the gate to be.
  2. Right-click on the injection cone you have just created and select Finish Set Injection Locations .
  3. Click Runner System Wizard (Geometry tab > Create panel > Runner System).
  4. Enter appropriate values for each entry for the sprue and parting plane.
  5. Click Next to move on to the next Wizard page. The second page of the Wizard is used to specify the sprue, runner, and drop sizes.
  6. Enter the appropriate values on the second page of the Runner System Wizard for the Sprue, Runner and Drops.
  7. Click Next to move on to the last page of the Wizard. The last page of the wizard provides you with the opportunity to set the length, shape and diameter of the gates. These options depend on whether you set your injection location on the side or the top of your part.
  8. Enter the appropriate values to model your gates as you would like.
  9. Click Finish to create the runner system.
