A CAD mold block, designed for conformal cooling, can be imported and will be assigned appropriate properties, automatically.
Model your mold block in a CAD package, such as Autodesk Inventor. Make sure that the mold block includes voids where the part and any channel or feed elements are located. This can be accomplished with Inventor Fusion. From within the CAD package, simplify the mold block by eliminating slides, bolts, etc., to streamline subsequent creation of the mold mesh.
Important: Conformal cooling analyses are supported on Windows platforms only, and will not run on Linux platforms.
- Import your part CAD representation and mesh it either as Solid 3D or Dual Domain.
- Select an analysis sequence that includes Cool (FEM).
- Define an injection location.
- Model any beam element cooling systems that are included in the design.
- Add the conformal cooling channels.
- Set the coolant inlet and outlet for the conformal cooling channel.
- Click
().
- Navigate to the location where you saved your conformal cooling mold block file.
- Select the appropriate file type from the drop-down box, select your file, then click Open.
