Fiber breakage parameters dialog

This dialog is used to edit options relating to the prediction of fiber breakage.

To access this dialog, set the Calculate fiber breakage option to Yes, then click Fiber breakage parameters.

Note: The selected material must be a long fiber-filled material.
Fiber length inlet option Specifies the fiber length condition to use at the inlet location. Options are:
  • Assume all are the same length

    This is the default setting.

  • Use a length distribution

If you select this option, click Fiber inlet length to open the Fiber inlet length dialog to specify the inlet length distribution by length and volume.

Output fiber length probability profile Specifies whether to output a fiber length probability profile at selected nodes. Options are:
  • No

    This is the default setting.

  • Yes

If you select this option, click Fiber length probability node list to open the Fiber length probability node list dialog to specify the nodes at which you want to output the fiber length probability profile.

Parameters for fiber breakage Specify values for parameters that control the fiber breakage calculation:
  • Anisotropic drag coefficient (Dg)

    The default value is 3.

  • Shear rate constant (Cb)

    The default value is 0.002.

  • Probability profile control factor (S)

The default value is 0.25. Allowed values are in the range of 0 to 1.

Note: The default settings will be appropriate for most simulations. This dialog has been provided for specialist users conducting research into the fluid mechanics of fiber-filled materials.
