Runner Balance Advanced Options dialog

This dialog is used to specify the runner balancing analysis related advanced options for the selected analysis sequence.

To access this dialog, ensure that you have selected the analysis sequence Runner Balance, click Process Settings (Home tab > Molding Process Setup panel > Process Settings), click Next one or more times to navigate to the Runner Balance Settings page of the Wizard, then click Advanced options.

Mill tolerance Enter the distance (mm) by which you want runners incrementally resized on your model.

During a runner balance analysis, runners are resized in a series of iterations until plastic flow in the runners is balanced. The Mill tolerance option allows you to specify the incremental size of each runner-size iteration.

Note: A highly accurate figure for the diameter increment would not be useful, if the runner system could not be machined with matching accuracy.
Maximum iterations Specifies the maximum number of iterations that the runner balancing algorithm will use when performing the calculations to balance the runner system.

The default value will be suitable for most analyses, if however the solver is having difficulty converging to a solution for the model, then increasing the maximum number of iterations may help.

Time convergence tolerance Pressure convergence tolerance

Convergence tolerances apply to the % change in a function value from one iteration to the next, and are used to identify when a solution has converged. As soon as this % change value falls below the convergence tolerance, the solution has converged.

Tightening a convergence tolerance may improve the solution accuracy, but will increase analysis time and may lead to convergence problem warnings. Also, if the analysis is generating convergence problem warnings, try loosening the tolerance to assist the solver in completing the simulation.

Note: Typically, there is no need to change the default value.
