The Runner Surface Properties tab of the Hot runner (3D) dialog is used to specify the thermal properties of the hot runner.
Dialog elements
- Heater is at
- The temperature of the heater element can be specified in two ways.
- Melt temperature
- The properties of the selected material determine the temperature of the heater.
- Temperature =
- A specified temperature can be defined. When this option is selected, a text box becomes available for entry of the required value.
- Heat loss into mold option
- The following options are available
- Automatic
- The specified constant flux value is used. If a heater element is detected, the program defaults to the Use heater element option.
- Constant flux
- The specified constant flux value is used.
- Insulating properties
- The specified insulating properties are used to calculate the heat loss. The insulating layer conductance and the air gap can be defined in the dialog accessed from the Edit insulation button.
- Use heater element
- The properties of the heater element are used.
