Part insert with user-defined orthotropic material properties

Part inserts are often made from materials with orthotropic properties. The Moldflow Materials Database contains only materials with isotropic materials. When modeling part inserts, it is now possible to select a 'user-defined' material and enter the material properties yourself.

Historically, when modeling part inserts, your options for describing the material from which the insert is made have been: On selecting one of these options, you can then choose a material from the Moldflow Materials Database. It is now possible to select a third option: to describe your part insert material.

If you select user-defined orthotropic material, a materials dialog opens for you to enter your material mechanical data, measured relative to the principal axes.

Note: This feature is not limited to orthotropic materials. If you have the data available, you can use this option to enter data about any material you want to use in the part insert simulation.
