Importing an Alias model using Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Design Link

You can import Alias model files using Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Design Link.

Before you import a model, first create a new project (or open an existing project) in which to store the model.

Note: As only solids can be imported through the Direct import option, it is recommended to use the Process using Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Design Link option to translate Alias surfaces.

1. Click (Home tab > Import panel > Import), or right-click in the Project View pane and select (Import).

   The Import dialog appears.

2. Navigate to the folder where your model is located and select it.
3. Click Open.
4. Click Process using Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Design Link to translate the model.
5. Click Advanced. The Advanced Import Options dialog appears.
6. Select the Translate surfaces option.
7. Click OK.

The model appears inside the Project View pane.

Important: After meshing the model, it is strongly recommended that you perform a series of diagnostic checks, and fix identified problems in order to have a clean model before you run an analysis .
