Create gate manually by node

You can create gates different ways, depending on your preference and what other components you want to model at the same time. This task describes how to create a gate using a node as a reference point.

  1. Click Node By Offset (Geometry tab > Create panel > Nodes > Node By Offset).
  2. Select a node as the Base coordinate and click on it. This will be the point at which you want to inject plastic.
  3. Click in the Offset box to activate it and either manually enter the end coordinates or use the Measurements dialog to assign the coordinates.
  4. Click Apply to see the new node.
  5. Click Create Line (Geometry tab > Create panel > Curves > Create Line).
  6. Click on the node you just created, and ensure that the coordinates are recorded in the First coordinate box.
  7. Click on the injection point on your part and make sure that the coordinates are recorded in the Second coordinate box.
  8. Click next to the Create as box.
  9. Click the New button in the Assign Property dialog and select the type of gate you would like.
  10. Choose the gate shape, length and diameter from the gate dialog and click OK.
  11. Click OK until all the dialogs are closed, then click Apply.
  12. Click Close to close the Create Line window.
  13. From the Study Tasks pane, right-click and select Generate Mesh. Alternatively, click Generate Mesh (Mesh tab > Mesh panel > Generate Mesh).
  14. Ensure that Remesh already meshed parts of the model is not selected.
  15. Change the other options on the dialog as required and click Mesh Now.
