To Lock to the Z Axis When Measuring

To lock to the Z axis when measuring

1. Click Review tab Measure panel Measure drop-down.
2. Click a Measure tool.
3. Press Z, or on the Measure panel, click Lock drop-down Z axis .
4. Move your cursor over the model in the Scene View and use the surface snap to select a surface.
5. Click the start point of the distance to be measured in the Scene View.

   The measure line turns blue to indicate it is locked to the Z axis.

6. Click the end point of the distance to be measured in the Scene View.

   The optional dimension label displays the measured distance.

 Command entry: Press Z when using a Measure tool.
