Use this page to adjust the options for the ReCap file reader.
-
Conversion Mode
- Controls how ReCap projects are converted when opened.
- Project Link - Project opens in Navisworks as a single object which represents a link to the project.
- Scans - Project opens in Navisworks with a separate object per scan.
- Voxels - Project opens in Navisworks with a separate object per voxel (cube of points) organized into groups for each scan.
-
Max Interactive Points
- Specifies the maximum number of points drawn during interactive navigation by the ReCap engine. The default value is 500000 points. Increasing the number of points improves render quality, but reduces the frame rate. This setting is ignored when used with Scans or Voxels conversion mode.
-
Max Memory (MB)
- Specifies the maximum amount of memory the ReCap engine will be allocated in MB. The default value is 0. This means that the memory resources will be distributed as follows: up to 1/3 of total memory or 4 GB (whichever is smaller) on 64-bit machines. You can change the value, if you want the ReCap engine to use more memory resources. This setting is ignored when used with Scans or Voxels conversion mode.
-
Point Cloud Density (%)
- Specifies the density of rendered points. The default setting is 100%. This means that when rendering ReCap files, Navisworks tries to render one point for every pixel, using just enough points to achieve a solid look. You can lower the point cloud density below 100%, to render less points for a sparser look. You can also increase point cloud density above 100% to render more than one point every pixel. This can improve the quality of the rendering further but will significantly extend time to fill in all the details.
Note: When you use Project Link conversion mode, the only significant values for point cloud density are 100%, 50%, 25%, 12%, 6%, 3%, and 1%. All other values behave the same as the next lowest significant values.
-
Scale Interactive Point Size
- Determines the size of points drawn during interactive navigation by the ReCap engine. By default this check box is selected. The points sizes are drawn larger to fill the gaps between them, and resulting in a smoother rendering appearance. If this check box is clear, the points are drawn normal size with the increased gaps between them.
-
Max Interactive Point Size
- Specifies a maximum size for points when scaling the size interactively.
-
Apply Lighting
- By default this check box is clear, and both colour and lighting values are extracted from the input file. Select this check box if you want to use Autodesk Navisworks lighting modes instead.
-
On Publish Embed XRefs
- This option controls what happens when you publish an NWD with the selected Embed ReCap and Texture data option. This option does not apply to Navisworks Freedom.
- Disable - the ReCap files will not be embedded in the published NWD.
- Fast Access - ReCap files are embedded 'as is' within the published NWD so that the NWD opens as fast as possible. The data is not compressed or encrypted.
- Compressed - ReCap files are treated like any other data within the published NWD. They are compressed and, if a password is used, will be encrypted. When you open a published file, you will need to wait for the ReCap files to be extracted.
