You can specify the location of shared project and site directories, and configure global options for use by a project team.
- Open Autodesk Navisworks.
- Click the application button Options.
- In Options Editor, expand the General node Locations.
- Click in Project Directory and browse to the location of your network Project directory. Alternatively, create a new folder on your shared network called Project, and then create another folder within it called global_options.
Note: This should be in a central network location, accessible to other users.
- Click in Site Directory and browse to the location of your network Site directory. Alternatively, create a new folder on your shared network called Site, and then create another folder within it called global_options.

- Expand any node in the Options Editor and modify the global options you want to share with your team.
- Click Export and select the global options you just changed OK.
- Save the file within the Project global_options folder. Call the file options.xml, for example.
- For a second time, expand any node in the Options Editor and modify another set of global options. OK.
- Click Export and select the global options you just changed OK.
- Save the file within the Site global_options folder. Call the file options.xml, for example.
- When you restart Navisworks, the global options will be used by default.
- To share these global options with other users, for each machine on the network:
- In Navisworks, click the application button Options.
- In the Options Editor, expand the General node Locations.
- Ensure the Project Directory and Site Directory point to the same locations as specified above.
Note: If you are a network administrator and want to prevent users from changing global options, you can lock them. See To Lock Global Location Options.
