To work with off-page connectors

To add an off-page connector to a line segment

  1. In the P&ID tool palette, Non-Engineering tab, under Connectors, click Off-Page Connector.
  2. In the drawing area of a drawing, click near the end of a line to select a location for the off-page connector. The off-page connector snaps to the end of the line with a status of unconnected.

To use off-page connectors to connect line segments in two drawings

The line segments in both drawings must have associated off-page connectors. Their status icons show them as unconnected.

  1. Right-click the off-page connector. Click Off-page Connector Connect.
  2. In the Create Connection dialog box, click the drawing that contains the line you want to continue on or from.
  3. Click the row that contains the off-page connector to which you want to connect. Click OK. The status icons in both drawings changes to connected .

To disconnect an off-page connector

  1. Right-click a connected off-page connector. Click Off-page Connector Disconnect.
  2. In the dialog that appears, click Break the Connection Between the Off-page Connectors.

    The status icon changes from connected to not connected .

To review and resolve off-page connector mismatches

  1. In the drawing area, right-click the off-page connector that has a connected with mismatches status . Click Off-page Connectors View Connectors.
  2. In the View Connected Off-page Connector dialog box, do any of the following:
    • (Optional) Click View Line Segment Properties in Both Drawings. The second row that is added to the table is informational only and not editable.
    • Click a highlighted field and click the update icon to update that value or click the update all icon to update all mismatched values.
      Note: When you accept an update, the value of the current drawing is updated to have the same value as the connected drawing. If the current drawing has the correct value, you would not want to update it.
    • (Optional) Click Disconnect Off-page Connector.
    • Click OK.

To add text to an off-page connector

  1. To have the TO and FROM drawing numbers display automatically within each connector, in the Project Manager, right-click each drawing and click Properties. In the DWG Number field, enter the drawing number as you want it to appear.
  2. To display other connector information, right-click the connector and click Properties. Under General, enter information in the following fields:
    • Connector Number
    • Origin or Destination
