Sketch a Line Load along a Work Plane

Sketch a line load along sloped or perpendicular structural elements.

Set the work plane

Add a line load to the slope using the current work plane

Add a hosted line load perpendicular to the vertical member of the frame

1. Select Structure tabWork Plane panel Reference Plane.
2. Draw a reference plane as shown.
   
3. Click Structure tabWork Plane panel Set.
4. In the Work Plane dialog, select Pick a Plane.
5. In the drawing area, select the reference plane. The work plane is now set to the angle of the frame slope.
   
6. Click Analyze tabLoads panel Loads.
7. Click Modify | Place Loads tabLoads panel Line Load.
8. On the Properties palette, select a value for Load Case.
9. For the Orient to parameter, select Work Plane.
10. Draw the line load as follows:
    • Select the endpoint of the member that is at the base of the slope.
    • Select the endpoint of the member that is at the top of the slope.
    
11. Click Structure tabWork Plane panel Set.
12. In the Work Plane dialog, click Pick a Plane.
13. Select the new reference plane.
14. Click Analyze tabLoads panel Loads.
15. Click Modify | Place Loads tabLoads panel Hosted Line Load.
16. On the Properties palette, enter a value for Load Case.
17. Select a value for Orient to Host Local Coordinate System.
18. Select the vertical member.

    The Line load is added, perpendicular to vertical member in the positive x direction and created by using the work plane of the host.
