Use the ViewCube menu to restore and define the Home view of a model, switch between view projection modes, and change the interactive behavior and appearance of the ViewCube.
The ViewCube menu has the following options:
- Go Home. Restores the Home view saved with the model.
- Save View. Saves the current view orientation with a unique name.
Note: Save View only allows you to save a 3D view with a unique name when you are viewing the default 3D view. If you are viewing a previously saved orthographic 3D view or a perspective (camera) 3D view, the view is simply saved with the new orientation and you are not prompted to supply a unique name.
- Lock to Selection. Uses the selected objects to define the center of the view when a view orientation change occurs with the ViewCube.
Note: If you click Home on the ViewCube, the view returns to the Home view even if Lock to Selection is selected.
- Toggle to Parallel 3D/Toggle to Perspective 3D. Switches between the parallel and perspective representations of the 3D view. The Toggle to Perspective 3D option is only available from the parallel view if the Crop Region Visible property is selected for the view.
Note: This option is only available for users who are students or are Autodesk Maintenance and Desktop Subscription customers for Revit 2015 software releases.
- Set Current View as Home. Defines the Home view of the model based on the current view.
- Set Front to View. Changes the direction that is defined as Front on the ViewCube, and orients the 3D view to it.
- Reset Front. Resets the Front view of the model to its default orientation.
- Show Compass. Displays or hides the compass around the ViewCube.
- Orient to a View. Orient a 3D view to any plan, elevation, section or 3D view in the project. The camera moves to the same location as in the view you specify, and a section box is placed around the model that emulates the extents of the selected view. This feature can be helpful when you want to render a 2D view.
- Orient to a Direction. Orients the camera north, south, east, west, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest, or top (places the camera at the top of the model).
- Orient to a Plane. Orients the view to a plane that you specify.
- Help. Launches the online Help system and displays the topic for the ViewCube.
- Options. Displays the dialog which allows you to adjust the appearance and behavior of the ViewCube.
