Select multiple elements and save them as a preset filter.
You can use the filter to isolate, hide, or apply graphic settings for the elements in the selection. The filter can be loaded at any time.
To access selection filters
- Click Manage tabSelection panel (Edit).
- In the Filters dialog, you can edit, create new, rename, and delete filters.
To create a filter based on selected elements
- Select one or more elements in the drawing area.
- Click Manage tabSelection panel (Save).
- In the Save Selection dialog, enter a name for the filter.
- Click OK.
Note: You cannot add categories to a selection-based filter.
To create a filter and add elements to the filter
- Click Manage tabSelection panel (Edit).
- In the Filters dialog, click New.
- In the Filter Name dialog, enter a name for the filter, click Select, and click OK to enter Edit Selection mode.
- On the Edit Selection Set tabEdit Selection panel, use the following tools:
- To add elements to the filter, click (Add To Selection), and then click in the drawing area to select elements to add.
- To remove elements from the filter, click (Remove From Selection), and then click in the drawing area to select elements to remove.
Note: You cannot add categories to a selection-based filter.
Note: To use a selection box to select multiple elements, first select Multiple on the Options Bar. Draw the selection box, then click Finish on the Options Bar.
- Click (Finish Selection) to save the selected elements for the filter.
- Click OK in the Filters dialog.
To use a previously saved selection filter
- Click Manage tabSelection panel (Load).
- In the Retrieve Filters dialog, select the name of the filter to use.
- Click OK.
To modify a previously saved selection filter
- Click Manage tabSelection panel (Edit).
- In the Filters dialog, select a filter and click Edit.
- On the Edit Selection Set tabEdit Selection panel, use the following tools:
- To add elements to the filter, click (Add To Selection), and then click in the drawing area to select elements to add.
- To remove elements from the filter, click (Remove From Selection), and then click in the drawing area to select elements to remove.
Note: You cannot add categories to a selection-based filter.

To assign visibility parameters to selection filters
- Click View tabGraphics panel (Visibility/Graphics).
- In the Visibility/Graphics dialog, click the Filters tab.
- Insert, delete, or modify the visibility parameters of selection filters.
