Open the Division dialog using either method:
- Click Edit menu > Divide.
- Click
.
Use this option to divide bars or object edges into smaller units (bars of edge segments).
The dialog has the following options:
- Division into N parts - when selected, the bar or edge is divided into N equal parts. The number of parts is specified in the Number of segments field.
Note: The contents of Number of segments field depends on the option chosen in the Division field.
- Division in distance - when selected, the bar or edge will be divided into 2 parts. The distance from a node is specified in the Distance from the top field.
Note: You can select the node from which distances are measured. It is indicated by arrows on the bar being divided. If you do not select a node from which distances are measured, the beginning bar or edge node is selected by default.
- Division in relative distance from the bar/edge length - when selected, the bar or edge is divided into 2 parts. The distance from the node (in %) is entered in the Relative distance from the top field.
- Division by a plane - when selected, the bar or edge is divided by a user-defined plane. You define the axis of the global coordinate system and the distance to the beginning of the system.
- Generate nodes without bar/edge division - when selected, Robot creates n-1 additional nodes on the selected bar or edge. The bar or edge will not, however, be divided into smaller bars of edge segments. For 2D bar structures, use this option to attach adjoining bars to the generated nodes.
- Execute - when selected, Robot divides the bar/edge according to the parameters specified in the Division dialog.
