Steel Members Design

Offshore steel structure design using API safety factors

The ANSI/AISC 360-05 steel code (ASD method - according to Section B3.4) has been supplemented with the offshore steel structure procedure.

With this enhancement the following categories of API/ASD safety factors are taken into account:
  • category A (safety factor: 1.67)
  • category B (safety factor: 1.25)
  • category C (safety factor: 1.0)
  • category S (safety factor: 1.0)

In order for these categories to be available, the API/ASD load combination must first be loaded from the Configuration of Code list dialog (Tools > Job Preferences > Loads > More codes...).

Manual definition of the critical moment Mcr for lateral-buckling verification

It is now possible to define the Mcr value manually, if its precise value is known to the user.

This will replace the Mcr value calculated according to the code formulas.

Timber Members Design

Timber Design according to the French National Annex to Eurocode 5 - NF EN 1995-1-1/NA Mai 2010

Requirements of the French National Annex for Eurocode 5 have been adopted, according to the clauses 6.1.5.(4), 6.1.7, 7.2.(2) (calculation of kcr, and deflection limit values).

To perform timber member design according to this code, it is necessary to select the code NF EN 1995-1:2005/NA:2010/A1:2008 from the list of Code combinations in the Job Preferences dialog (Tools > Job Preferences).
