Autodesk Vault Basic Add-In

Autodesk Vault can manage all your engineering files, regardless of the file type. Files can consist of Simulation Mechanical, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or any other file used in the design process. You can organize all your files and keep them in one location for easy access. All file versions are retained, so you never misplace or replace past versions. The vault stores each version of a file, along with all the file dependencies, giving you a living history of the project. The vault also stores file properties, such as the user name, date, and comments, for rapid search and retrieval.

In a design team, all the files and associated data can be stored on the vault server so all users have access to the information and its history. Each member of a team must have a unique login name and password. Team members check out files to prevent more than one member from editing the same file simultaneously. Once a file is checked back into the vault, team members can refresh their local copies of the model file to get the latest version from the vault.

Simulation Mechanical interfaces with Autodesk Vault Basic using the Vault Basic add-in. The add-in brings the basic file management functionality of Autodesk Vault into the Simulation Mechanical environment. You can store and manage all of your Simulation Mechanical files in the vault.

Use the following commands to work with the Vault Basic add-in:

Go to vault Launch the Vault Explorer.
Log in Log in to the Autodesk Data Management Server.
Log out Log out of the Autodesk Data Management Server.
Open Open files from the vault.
Refresh Refresh files from the vault.
Check in Check in all files.
Check out Check out all files.
Undo check out Undo file checkout.
Options Set options for working with the vault.
Note: The vault files are referenced to one another in such a way that Check in, Check out, or Undo check out are performed on all related files simultaneously (that is, they are batch commands).

You can view more information about Autodesk Vault in the online Help.

Note: The online Help content covers various Autodesk Vault applications, including the full server-client versions. As a result, some of the information presented in the online Help is not applicable to the Vault Basic add-in.
