Position name

On the Job Preferences dialog, you can define a syntax for the name of the position created for each structure element during automatic positioning.

Note: For all structure elements (except spread footing, continuous footing, lintel, ground beam, and raft foundation), the position name must include a story number and an element number ({%El_num}). If the name does not contain both components, an error message displays.

Note: When you close the dialog, the software verifies the syntax, so that it is not possible to assign the same position to different elements.

A sample syntax: Wall {%S_num}_{%El_num}, depicted as Wall 2_3

where:

2 = the number of a building story

3 = the successive number of a wall on building story number 2.

Define a position name for a structure element:

Walls (such as Wall {%S_num}_{%El_num})
Column (such as Column {%S_num}_{%El_num})
Beam / Ground Beam (such as Beam {%S_num}_{%El_num})
Lintel (such as Lintel {%S_num}_{%El_num})
Floor Slab or Raft Foundation (such as Slab {%S_num}_{%El_num})
Stairs (such as Stairs {%S_num}_{%El_num})
Spread Footing (such as Spread footing {%El_num})
Continuous Footing (such as Continuous footing {%El_num}).

After you define the syntax for a structure element, a preview of the name displays to the right of the definition.
