Use this macro to generate a drawing of a developed tubular profile.
To begin generating a tubular profile development, open the Development Pipe dialog from:
- Menu: Steel > Tube development
- Ribbon: ASD - Drawings > Prrintouts > Tube development
- Toolbar: Printouts > Tube development
.
In the drawing area, select a tubular section profile.
Specify drawing parameters:
- Name of layout - the printout template that will be additionally generated.
- Template - the template used to generate the printout (*.dwt format file). Click the browse (...) button to open a dialog where you can select any template file saved on disk.
- Description style - the style applied in description of the generated printout.
- Description placement - location of a description in the drawing (in the printout template).
- Starting contour angle - an angle that determines lines cutting through a pipe to be developed (the angle is measured from Y axis in the local coordinate system of a bar).
- Scale - the drawing scale that will be applied in generation of a development drawing.
- Shortening - if this is selected, long tubular profiles (segments of elements that do not include any characteristic points) will be shortened in a drawing. The shortening of an element is represented by a break in the shortened element. If this is not selected, the whole tubular profile will display on screen.
In the lower part of the dialog, you can define parameters of tubular profile contours. If you select Draw contour for external and/or internal contours, you can then select a display color for the external and/or internal contours by clicking the browse (...) button.
After you click OK, the software generates a ready-to-print layout including a drawing, named as specified in the above dialog. A printout is attached to the printout list of the Autodesk AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Steel program and saved in the project. The layout also includes a text description that provides basic parameters of the indicated tubular profile. A part of the printout layout created for an example of a tubular profile is illustrated below.
