Inserting 3D Solids

This option is used to insert to an Autodesk AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Steel model:

You can access the option by selecting:

While inserting objects from an Autodesk AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Formwork Drawings file, units are converted to the Autodesk AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Steel model units. You cannot convert units from imperial to metric (and vice versa). The program displays then a message about incompatible units. Objects from an external file are inserted to a model according to the global coordinate system (WCS).

3D Solid objects in an Autodesk AutoCAD Structural Detailing - Steel model can be added to a new or existing group or scheme. They can also be deleted anytime from a group or scheme.

3D Solid objects can also be displayed in drawings. To control their display in group drawings, use the Dimensioning style settings - Group dialog. You can select there the Solids 3D option and define parameters of lines representing these objects in drawings such as a color, type and thickness. 3D Solids are displayed identically as other objects, except for sections through these objects which are not hatched.

To control display of 3D Solids in a disposition scheme drawing, you can define a subgroup for 3D Solids and specify display parameters (such as a view, color, type of 1st line) for elements of this subgroup in the Disposition scheme dialog.
