Installing 3ds Max with Softimage on a Windows OS

The installation, activation, and registration of the 3ds Max with Softimage software on a Windows OS is identical to the installation and registration of other Autodesk software products running on a Windows OS.

Important: Before you choose to install the 3ds Max with Softimage product, verify your system meets the minimum system requirements and your hardware meets the minimum requirements to run the product, and make sure to read the Release Notes.

Note: The default installation path for the 3ds Max 2016 software product on a Windows OS is: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016. The default installation path for the Softimage 2016 software product is: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Softimage 2016.

To install 3ds Max with Softimage in a language other than the default language, follow the instructions in the installer.

Note: Have your 11-digit product serial number and five-digit Product Key handy (as you need to enter these during the installation process).
Important: If you install 3ds Max with Softimage to a custom location, ensure that the path does not include any Chinese or Japanese double‐byte characters.
